Welcome
I guess the first thing to do is introduce myself. My name is Marty Bee and I have been doing design since around 1976. I have my masters in Advertising Design (the world has moved on since 1989 and now calls it Graphic Design).
In thinking through how to do this site, my wife suggested that I don't play it straight. None of my design is "straight". So its a little different than the "clean and sterile" look that is prevalent among web masters today.
Inspiration
I could wax long on this subject but growing up in the 60's the psychedelic movement, surreal imagery and good old fashioned underground comix such as the work of Robert Crumb play important roles in my design psyche. Throw that in with countless hours watching black and white science fiction movies from the 50's and reading every comic book I could get my hands on you have my design "soul" figured out. I have an inveterate love of all things retro.

Most folks are just trying to make a buck. They don't think they need anything fancy. What they don't realize is the most visible and memorable design of a logo, ad or piece of design is the one that wins in the great race to capture the hearts of the customer.
